Sculpture / Artwork Transitioning To The Sticks

Materials & Structure

This piece is assembled using a suede leather shoe as the base and is built up with cardboard, wood, iron, plastic textile and metal bike chain; assembled using wood screws and textile stitching techniques.

'Materials that we scoop up screw up, imprint with our day; stress excitement…out of breath…stuff we force into neat exploding piles trying to make it all fit when it won’t it just spills out. Resurfacing like plastic weeds. The insignificance of that Toss was so memorised we barely acknowledged it…grapes in plastic coffee cup train ticket button empty toothpaste tube receipt washing up liquid milk bottle cap…Random uninvited guests crawling into our pockets, skulking in corners, under our feet. Plastic woodland meditations; looking, staring, obsessing over the textured bark of the cardboard, the soft mouth like folds howling amongst the pile…the impact of the agonising noise the creatures overlooked are making but only when you listen.'
