'SPILL references the feeling of stress, overwhelm and uncontrollable emotional detonation…that comes from normalising the replacement of intuition with materials trends certificates and penalty fare charges. It references these distracting elements, alongside a delicacy, validation and elevation that the collation of waste in this way aims to allow for. I wanted to realise stories of personalities, people, humans, events, daily annoyances, rituals, overlooked comments and tasks that are a part of the everyday. Realising these stories through messy works that represents our inner psyches but also the reality of our outer worlds and the impact our actions have (often without realising it); the glasses we snapped the pen that exploded ink the Trek Bar wrapper we just binned. Beyond the polished photo clean coat brushed hair… Behind the Facade (a Trash Club reference). Capturing the moment and the mess…feeling overwhelmed, feeling scared but embracing it and making art anyway. The bulky weight of large keychains that always fall out your hand and the light dust at the bottom of your bag of 5 years. The sculptures themselves realise the duality between weights and textures; soft hard light delicate heavy, mirroring the complexities of psyches and characteristics within an entanglement of Stuff.'
