realising stories of personalities, people, humans, events, daily annoyances, rituals, overlooked comments and tasks that are a part of the everyday. Realising these stories through messy works that represents our inner psyches but also the reality of our outer worlds and the impact our actions have (often without realising it); the glasses we snapped the pen that exploded ink the Trek Bar wrapper we just binned. Beyond the polished photo clean coat brushed hair…

Sculpture / Artwork Pavement Altercations

Meetings on the pavement. Organic detritus makes its way through concrete cracks and broken fences, high speed bicycles collide with high visibility. Industrious neighbours watching the Pavement Altercations play out.

Entangled sticks leaves branches; paused mid chaotic ecstatic dance and there was a lack of love when that pile of recycling was aggressively pressed down and still it spills out the bag…there was something magic though in that mindless force from the hand now watch how the cardboard shape shifts into  faces, mountains, sculptural layers of paper archways and crinkled waves…the hum drum movement and wild realities of a normal day…fought and lived partially on the pavement.

Materials & Structure

Sculpture split into 3 parts, modelled on the idea of 3 oversized keychains. Each piece is built from a large carabiner as the starting point. The textiles and objects are draped, stitched and woven together, inspired by the crafts often associated with putting together pieces of textiles to create wearable clothes. All 3 sculptures move downwards into a shoe; resembling the human figure, highlighting the sentience of waste and discarded objects.
